Heavy Vehicles

No more hitting tyres with an iron bar! Now you can check your vehicle's tyre pressure at a glance.

The days of walking alongside your rig with an iron bar hitting each truck tyre, checking the bounce to see if the tyre is inflated are now a thing of the past. Now you can check your tyre pressure at a glance ...

How do Tyrecheckers™ work?

Truck Tyre Checker

Tyrecheckers™ tyre pressure indicators, permanently replace the dust cap on each tyre valve. They operate on a simple spring pressure system manufactured to specific tolerances.

When the tyre is correctly inflated, the Tyrechecker™ sight glass is ALL GREEN. If the tyre pressure drops by 10% (e.g. 90psi x 10% = 9.0psi) the sight display will begin to display RED. The sight glass will display ALL RED when the tyre is approximately 20% under inflated.

The truck Tyrecheckers™ are suitable for: trucks, buses and large motorhomes which require tyre pressures from 90-120psi.

What are the benefits of correct tyre pressure?

  • Almost all tyre debris strewn along freeways comes for the inner tyres of dual axles.
  • Under inflated tyres increase a vehicle’s fuel consumption by 10% - Source: NRMA fuel savings
  • Running tyres at 20% under inflated can reduce tyre life by up to 30% - Source: Goodyear & Michelin
  • For truck tyres, a 10psi drop in tyre pressure will increase tyre rolling resistance by 2% - Source: Goodyear Tyre & Rubber
  • Consistent proper tyre inflation for the trucking industry would decrease fleet wear by 17% - Source: Michelin

The proof is in the pudding!

Peter Wright, Managing Director Moreland Bus Lines was so impressed with truck Tyrecheckers™ he bought the company Tyrecheckers™ and fitted truck Tyrecheckers™ to all of his 60 plus buses. Peter runs buses Australia wide and provides route services. Peter believes the savings and safety gained through the truck Tyrecheckers™ has been substantial and can be contacted on Mobile 0418-328-959 to further discuss.

How do you fit Truck Tyrecheckers™?

  1. Remove the existing valve-stem cap from your tyres.
  2. Set your tyre pressure to suit your vehicle.
  3. Using a clean cloth, wipe off each tyre valve.
  4. Ensure “O-ring seal” (inside of Tyrechecker) is seated flat. This is a critical component, as if the product is without this seal, or if the seal is improperly seated within the unit, it may cause your tyre to deflate.
  5. Secure to valve by twisting in a clockwise fashion. Firmly tighten the Tyrechecker to create a seal with the valve.
  6. Check with soapy water for installation leaks.

Truck Precaution

  1. Truck Tyrecheckers are not suitable for use where sand (or balancing powder) is used in tyres for balancing.
  2. When using valve extensions, it is recommended that you use brass or steel extensions or steel braided flexible hose as some plastic valve extensions may leak.
  3. You may choose to tighten the Tyrechecker to 10-12lbs with a wrench, by positioning the wrench below the clear sight glass. Using the wrench above, or on the sight glass, may damage the sight glass.
  4. Do not over tighten the Truck Tyrechecker as it may result in unseating the “O-ring seal”.
