How Tyrecheckers™ came about

Tyrecheckers Pty Ltd came about from an idea some 20 years ago going to the Kilmore races. I indicated to my father I had a good idea for tyres on every car and truck in the world.

I suggested we needed to develop a tyre indicator that would substitute the tyre cap and tell the driver at a glance if the tyre pressures were correct. The indicator cap would show green for okay, yellow for warning and red the tyre needs to be inflated.

The idea remained just that for the next 20 years, until I was having a couple of reds with my great mate Peter Wright where I mentioned my idea. Peter thought the tyre indicator cap was terrific and that we should start to investigate the concept to see if it had been invented. We decided to search the Internet. We discovered the product that was my idea of 20 years ago being advertised in South Africa.

Now 100 odd emails later Tyrecheckers South Africa has combined with us to deliver a “tyrechecker” to Australia that is a world-class product delivering longer lasting tyres, better fuel economy, improved cornering and handling, reduced braking distance and the capability to save lives.

The future

The guys plan was to retire and run the new Tyrechecker business. As we know the best laid plans can go astray. Instead Peter bought another bus route and Alan, is currently helping a mate project manage one of the largest property developments occurring in Melbourne today - so much for retirement!

They sold the business in October 2007 and the new owners Loreena (AKA Mrs Tyrecheckers) and Michael are set to make Tyrecheckers the next household word. Yep, their aim is to bring Tyrecheckers to the masses!
